About

My name is Carson and I am a computer science graduate studying at BYU in Utah. I have worked on several projects throughout the years that underscore my interests. Namely,

  • NASA RISE – This was fun for the short while it lasted. With a small group of students, I helped construct two near-space payloads. This project was initially inspired by Chris Latta who was in charge of the local IEEE branch. In the end, this project was a success, even though it was extremely challenging. Both payloads we launched were recovered. Pictures are available at rise.oakenweld.com
  • INL Monitoring Station – This project involved the design and construction of a completely autonomous remote monitoring station. My roles, again, included developing almost every aspect of the electronics and software. The project evolved from being a simple single-computer solution to an overly complex dual computer system, to a much more refined ARM9 running linux.
